Betty Guerzoni

Betty Jane Guerzoni, 95, of Benld passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.

Betty was born January 23, 1924 in Gillespie. She graduated in 1945 from the Jewish Hospital School of Nursing and worked in Rockford during the polio epidemic.

She is survived by her daughter Carla (retired USAF Col. Thomas) Janisse of Troy; great-granddaughter Lucciana Stella Baarson; stepgrandsons Kyle and Philip Janisse; great-grandson John Paul Anthony Janisse; brother Edward (Lillian) Young of Bonita Springs, Florida; nieces Erin Anderson and Megan (Matt) Pavich; grandniece Eleanor Pavich and grandnephew Ian Pavich.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Young and Marguerite Hartnett; her husband, Dale Guerzoni whom she married on September 16, 1946 and who preceded her in death on January 23, 1992; and a  granddaughter Marie Victoria (Mavi) Baarson.

There will be a memorial service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers Betty requested donations be made to the Benld Adopt a Pet organization.

Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville is in charge of arrangements.
