Bradford Beeler

Bradford L. Beeler, 64, of Carlyle, died Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in O Fallon.

He was born on October 18, 1954 in Highland, the son of  Hansel and Lorraine (nee Schoeck) Beeler.

He grew up in St. Jacob and graduated from Triad High School in Troy in 1972. He served active duty with the U.S. Marine Corps for two years and four years in the reserves. He married and returned to Illinois in 1979. He worked for Furmanite Corporation in Norfolk, Virginia, at Shell Oil and other refineries and power plants.  He retired in 2010 after 31 years of service.

He was a member of Saint Jacob United Church of Christ.

He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and enjoyed St. Louis Blues hockey. Brad wished to minimize his health issues and worked on close conversations on a happy note.  He dearly loved all his girls.  He stayed in contact with lifelong friends from his school days and hometown. There was a special cat, Smokey, that brought him pleasure.

Survivors include two daughters, Miranda L. Brown of Fort Worth, Texas and  Sierra N. (fiance – Mical McEuen) Beeler of  Worden; a sister, Carol M. (Richard) Lammert of Enfield, New Hampshire; four grandchildren,  Savannah L. and Ryleigh N. Brown, both of Fort Worth and  twins Alexis L. and Jocelynn N. Mercer, both of  Worden; and ex-wife, Linda  Sue Sims Beeler of Troy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hansel Cletus Beeler; his mother, Lorraine Meta Beeler Suess (nee Schoeck); his stepfather, Herbert M. Suess; and brother, Gary L. Beeler.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 11 at 11 a.m. at Keystone Cemetery in St. Jacob with the Rev. Nancy L. Gamache, pastor of St. Jacob United Church of Christ officiating.

Celebration of life will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the Heritage Hall at St. Jacob United Church of Christ.

Interment will be at Keystone Cemetery in St. Jacob.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland is in charge of arrrangements.
