Congratulations are in order for Triad Assistant Superintendent Jason Henderson who was selected this past week to become superintendent of the school district in Edwardsville. For anyone who has known or worked with Mr. Henderson, I think you will agree their gain is our loss. Since I began covering Triad district in 2010, there has never been a time when he has failed to respond questions for a story, or provided the information that I was asking for, and the reports he has presented during regular board meetings have been as forthright and detailed as any I’ve seen. We wish him all the best in his new position.
You’ll notice in this week’s edition that another recent superintendent hire, this one in Collinsville, also has ties to the Triad School District. Beginning in July, Mark “Brad” Skertich, who has been superintendent in Brighton, will become the superintendent for the Collinsville School District. While it was before my time, Skertich apparently began his teaching career as a math teacher at Triad Middle School.
If you’ve got some free time on Friday, or are looking for a good cause to donate to, Troy Mayor Al Adomite was plugging this year’s Special Olympics Polar Plunge once again at the council meeting Monday Night. Having experienced the thrill last year, both Adomite and Police Chief Brad Parsons I’m sure are raring to go again this year, provided that it warms up!
Others from the city and police department are also expected be there to help the cause. To participate call Jennifer Hautley (667-6732), or Officer Raymond (977-2578). It all takes place at 4204 Distribution Center in Belleville, with check-in time from 4-6:15 p.m.
