The Triad boys tennis team hosted the Knights’ Invitational Duals Tournament on Saturday, March 16 and finished third in the event.
In four team matches at the tournament, Triad defeated Paris 5-0, Marian Catholic 3-2 and Mt. Prospect 4-1.
The lone Triad loss came against Lincoln Way East in a semifinal contest.
“The Lincoln Way East match came down to a few points and our inexperience and lack of practice due to weather probably was the difference,” Triad Coach Jack Carmody said.
The win over Mt. Prospect was in the third-place match.
Triad highlights for the tournament included Jaden Henderson and Sean Froidcouer going 4-0 in doubles play during the tournament. Other top Triad performers were Jared Speer, Kellan Collins, Cameron Woods, T.J. Bloom and Kyle Langestein, who all post 3-1 records during the tournament.
I told the guys at the start of the beginning of the season that our goal of daily improvement will be the hallmark of our success,” Carmody said. “This weekend proved that although we still have a long way to go, we have a strong base from which to work from. To start the season with three of four wins is stellar and could not be prouder of the effort and competitiveness.
