Track And Field Girls 3rd At Own Invitational

Lead by a pair of junior varsity relay teams, the Triad Lady Knights finished third in their own Invitational on Friday, April 5. Only Belleville West, the meet champion, and Naperville Central, the runnerup, had a higher point total than Triad’s 83.
The Lady Knights had two firsts at meet, both provided by their JV sprinters. Taking the championship in the JV 4 x 100-meter race were the quartet of Bailey Grigg, Lauren Johnson, Savannah Viviano and Rachel Yates. They ran their race in a time of 52.23 seconds.
In the junior varsity 4 x 200-meter event, the Triad foursome of Johnson, Yates, Isabel Averill and Paige Rasmussen won with a time of 1:49.32.
Triad finished the meet with four second-place finishes, including an individual performances by Krista Cochran in the discus. She had a throw of 105-2. Coming up with additional seconds were the varsity 4 x 800-meter relay team, the varsity 4 x 100-meter relay team and the varsity 4 x 200-meter relay team.
In the 4 x 800, a Triad group of Sydney Hartoin, Haley Jackson, Samantha Kilzer and Alyssa Kowalski clocked in at 10:11.70. The 4 x 100 team of Faith Grapperhaus, Alexa Seger, Averill and Kyleigh Barton ran a time of 51.02 seconds. The 4 x 200 combo of Grapperhaus, Viviano, Grigg and Barton finished in a time of 1:49.32.
Triad’s only third of the meet was supplied by Hartoin in the 400-meter dash. She finished the race with a time of 1:02.40.
Garnering a fourth in the pole vault for the Lady Knights was Bridget Cooligan, who cleared 9-0.
Triad got individual fifths in the high jump (4-10) from Lily Cawvey and in the 100-meter dash (12.96) from Grapperhaus.
The Lady Knights also got a fifth-place performance out of the 4 x 400-meter relay team of Jackson, Kayla Edwards, Hartoin and Kowalski. They ran the race in a time of 4:20.08.
