Maryville Police Investigating String Of Car Burglaries, Theft
Times-Tribune Staff Report
The Maryville Police Department is investigating a string of vehicle burglaries that occurred either late on April 14 or in the early morning hours of April 15.
Approximately 20 reports were received of separate vehicle burglaries, the department said, with one report of a stolen vehicle.
“The majority of the burglaries occurred in the ‘Old Town’ area on Lucas St., Westwood Dr., Birch Ln., Nepute St., and Perry St. The vehicles involved were left unlocked and the majority of the vehicles were parked along the side of the street. It is being reported that no vehicles were damaged due to the burglaries, and taken from the vehicles were mostly small items such as wallets and loose change,” a statement issued by the department says.
A department spokesperson said they are aggressively investigating the incidents, and encouraged any witnesses with information or video surveillance of suspicious activity to contact the Maryville Police Department at 618-344-8899.
“We would like to remind the citizens of Maryville to make sure they remove all valuable from their vehicle and lock all vehicle doors,” they said.
