The Metro East Recreational Baseball League’s annual Senior All Star Game will be held on Friday, June 28, with the first pitch to be throw at 6 p.m. A rain date is set for June 21.
A statement posted on the league’s website invited people to attend the game to celebrate the game of baseball and to honor senior high school payers from the surrounding communities.
“Watch our future leaders as they participate din our Senior All-Star Game played on George Lanxon Field, located in Moody Park, Fairview Heights,” they state.
Organizers are asking for a donation of two non-perishable items per person “to help keep our local food pantry full,” and will also have All Star shirts for sale at the event, or by order form. Gates will open at 5 p.m. More information can be found online at www.MERBL.org.
The rules of the 9 inning game require wood bats only, a 4-umpire system, with the teams divided into National League vs American League.
The designed head coach will be the coach with the best record.
