Bradley R. Smith 5K Run/Walk Set For September 7

The Tenth Annual Bradley R. Smith Memorial Scholarship 5K Run and Walk is set for Saturday, September 7.

The run will be held at the Troy Tri-Township Park, located at 409 Collinsville Road in Troy. The run and walk will begin near Pavilion 10 and start at 8  a.m.

This 5K run/walk event is to honor a local fallen hero, Senior Airman Bradley R. Smith, of Troy, who served in the United States Air Force from 2006 until making the ultimate sacrifice for his country in Afghanistan 2010. He earned a Silver Star for his heroic actions. This 5K run/walk raises money for the Bradley R. Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund, to honor Airman Smith’s legacy.

Throughout the history of the 5k run/walk, over $250,000 in scholarship money has been raised and awarded to area students.

The run is open to all ages and registration is open now.

The registration fee is $30 before August 20, and $35 on race day. T-shirts are included in the registration fee but are not guaranteed for those registering after August 20.

Registration the day of the event will begin at 7  a.m.
