Jeffrey Callahan
Jeffrey D. Callahan, 64, of Troy, born Saturday, June 4, 1955 in Moline, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2019 in Maryville.
Jeff was a member of Our Lord’s Lutheran Church, Maryville. He was a Sommelier at Porter’s Steakhouse in Collinsville for 21 years and was known throughout the area as “the Wine Guy.” He was founder and educator at Mid-American School of Wine. Jeff was a CSW (Certified Specialist of Wine), and a member of Society of Wine Educators as well as Court of Master Sommeliers. He was a graduate of Concordia, Black Hawk College and Moline High School.
Surviving are his children, Tamsone Barley of Kirkwood, Missouri and Donald Callahan of Troy; longtime friend and adopted sister, Lori (Greg) Fremder of Troy; adopted nieces, Becky, Cassi and Kylie Fremder, Mabel and Maxine Asbury; and many dear friends and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mary (nee Vickers) Callahan.
Friends may call 11:30 a.m. to 12:30, Saturday, September 7, at Our Lord’s Lutheran Church, 150 Wilma Drive, Maryville.
Memorial services will start at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, at Our Lord’s Lutheran Church, with Pastor Darla Ann Kratzer officiating.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will follow at Porter’s Steakhouse, 1000 Eastport Plaza Dr., Collinsville.
