The boys soccer team at Triad has had a great week which featured two shutouts, which were against rival Highland and Belleville West. Those two wins put them at 7-0-1 on the season.
Their match against Highland was last Tuesday at Glik Park. Joseph Wade started the scoring for Triad 8 minutes into the contest to give the Knights a lead they would never relinquish. Highland was threatening to score with 16 minutes left in the first half but their shot was off target and connected with the post. Jake Ellis put the visitors up 2-0 on a goal with only 1 minute left in the half.
Triad wasted no time adding to their lead in the second half as Travis Speer buried a penalty kick in the bottom left corner of the goal. That goal only 4 minutes into the half put Triad up 3-0. They very nearly score yet again less than a minute later but Highland’s goalie made a big play to stop the Triad offensive. Sam Beeman tacked on another goal for Triad’s squad with 20 minutes left in the game. Highland attempted to counter with a score of their own but Triad’s goalie made some outstanding saves to preserve the shut out.
In the match-up against Belleville West, Triad had goals scored by Speer (2), Weber, Wade, Clark (3), and Beeman. Assists were made by: Ellis, Speer, Kraabel, Stewart, and Tentis.
