Daniel Leon Tucker, 93, passed away peacefully on August 1 at his home in Tallahassee, Florida. He was the husband of Nellie Mae Tucker, who predeceased him in January.
Dan married Nell on May 24, 1944, before serving in the U.S. Navy in the Philippines during World War II. He spent the majority of his career working for Conrail, retiring in 1988.
The Tuckers lived in Troy, Illinois for many years after raising their three children in Granite City: Danny Tucker (Gail Vogeler), Karen Agee (James Agee), and Michael Tucker. They were proud grandparents to 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews across the nation.
Dan was always active with a quick mind and fierce determination, regardless of the task at hand. He was an avid golfer and gardener, and he loved to sing hymns and watch western films.
Dan was born to Fount Eli Tucker and Lillie Mae Pulley in Legate, Tennessee. He will be put to rest alongside Nell in Moore Cemetery in Bear Spring, Tennessee.
