Local Conductor To Direct ‘A Royal Concert’ on Sunday

Local conductor and Highland Music School Director Angelina McLaughlin-Heil will conduct the Centralia Philharmonic Orchestra’s Fall Opening Concert this Sunday, October 20, at 2:30 p.m. in the gallery of the Community Arts Center, 1250 E. Rexford, Centralia.

“A Royal Concert” will open with a brass fanfare and feature a clarinet quartet, string ensemble and orchestral selections including Francois Couperin’s “The King’s Ballet,” theme from “Game of Thrones” and Johann Strauss’ “Emperor Waltzes.”

Following the concert, a “selfie” booth for your own royal photo in costume will be open and refreshments will be served. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

Angelina is founding director of the Highland Music School and the Belleville Philharmonic Beginning Strings program and the Edwardsville Community Symphony. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Ed. From Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and completed her Master’s in Orchestral Conducting from Illinois State University in 2015. She is on the faculty of St. Charles Community College and Kaskaskia College.
