Collinsville Harriers Compete at Sectional

By Mark Jurgena, Reporter

Three Collinsville High cross country runners competed in last weekend’s sectional in Bloomington.

No Kahoks were able to qualify for the state meet.

Kahok coach Darrell Frerker indicated that it would have been really tough to qualify for state  out of the boys race as an individual.

“(The boys) ran strong but not the personal record effort that they needed to qualify for state,” said CHS coach Darrell Frerker.

Junior Theo Paxton finished 71st with a time of 16:53,

“Theo was a little bit slower than he was capable of running,” said Frerker.

Junior Axel Muniz placed 99th in 17:31.

“Axel ran about right where he should’ve been. It was a decent race,” Frerker said.

Senior Jared Kreis of New Lenox Lincoln-Way Central finished with a blistering time of 14:38.

Minooka won the team title with 70 points.

On the girls side, freshman Jordan Gary finished 78th with a time of 20:42. She did not qualify for the state meet.

“She ran the second fastest time she did all season in less than desirable conditions. The course was a little bit wet. She ran strong, she ran tough,” Frerker said.

The sectional winner was junior Helena Kleronomos of Yorkville in 17:54.

Yorkville won the team title with 30 points.
