Triad Hockey Drops Pair of Games In MVCHA Play

The Triad club hockey team had a rough couple of games last week. They fell 5-3 to MVCHA co-leader Columbia and 5-1 to Edwardsville.

On November 19th, Edwardsville used two first period goals to spring themselves to victory at the East Alton Ice Rink.

Edwardsville jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the opening period on a short handed goal by Hunter Whisenaud.

In the last minute of the period Whisenaud scored again on a breakaway goal to make it 2-0 Tigers headed into the break.

The Tigers scored again early in the 2nd period to up their lead to 3-0.

With 9:50 to play in the 2nd, Triad broke through on a goal by Ethan McFarland who went top shelf on the Edwardsville goalie.

Elliot McAtee was given the assist.

Edwardsville regained their three goal lead 50 seconds later.

Logan Teater was in goal for Triad. He recorded 18 saves on the evening.

The previous night, November 18th, Columbia beat Triad 5-3 at the Granite City Ice Rink.

The score was knotted up 1-1 after the initial period of play.

The Eagles went up 3-2 after two periods and pushed their lead to 5-2 at one point.

Frankie Rynes scored two goals and added an assist on the evening.

McFarland added a goal and an assist.

Zack Davis had an assist as did Jordan Lewis.

Teater was again in goal for the Knights and made 26 saves.

The Knights ended the week tied for 6th in MVCHA play with four points. They were tied with Edwardsville and O’Fallon at 2-4.
