William C. “Bill” Brown
William C. “Bill” Brown, 67, of Troy, born February 6, 1952 in St. Louis, passed suddenly on Sunday, December 29, 2019 in Kearney, Nebraska.
Bill retired from Troy Police Department with 30 years of service, the last 10 serving as Chief of the Department, and was a life member of IL Chiefs and SIPCA. He served as a Volunteer Fireman for 20 years, and Troy Fire Protection District Trustee for 18 years. Bill attended Friedens UCC, serving as Council President (1998). Bill was a life member of Collinsville Masonic Lodge 712 AF & AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Southern IL, and Ainad Shriners. He was a life member of Ducks Unlimited, Life Member of the NRA, Member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, and made Sir William Brown-Royal Order of Scotland. He enjoyed the sport of hunting and the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. and Margaret E. (nee Newell) Brown; brothers, Robert and James Brown; and his sister, Virginia Johnson.
Surviving are his wife, Marla (nee Schlueter) Brown of Troy; Son, Charles (Ashley) Brown of Bethalto; daughter, Jennifer (Sid) Blush III of Clayton, NC and three grandchildren, Aliza and Cadence Beaty and Avery Brown.

Friends may call 5 to 8 pm on Friday, January 3, 2020 at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, IL and 10 to 11 am Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Friedens UCC, Troy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Friedens UCC with Rev. Nancy Gamache officiating.
Interment will be at Friedens Cemetery, Troy.
Richeson Funeral Home in Troy was in charge of arrangements
