Dorothy Blumer

Dorothy Lee “Dot” Blumer (nee Randant) 92, of St. Jacob, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Faith Country Side, Highland.

Dorothy was born on Wednesday, March 23, 1927 in Lebanon, to LaFayette and Lillian Randant. She spent most of her childhood in Germantown, with Eight brothers and sisters. After high school Dorothy worked for the Civil Service. She enjoyed singing with the USO during war time. She met the love of her life during high school and married him on April 6, 1946 after he returned from WW II. Dorothy enjoyed raising her family which included her daughter Pam and son Bruce. After they were raised she resumed her working career. She worked at Triad High School as secretary to the principal for 23 years. After she retired, she and Ralph enjoyed going to spring training in Mesa, AZ to see the Chicago Cubs and also trips to the Tetons. Dot loved her Cubbies, Red Hats and Bunco Club. She was a faithful member of the St. Jacob UCC, where she taught Sunday School, loved singing in the church choir and was a member of the Ladies Guild.  She was a member of the St Jacob American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 665.

The most special joy in her life was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a very special mom, grandma and great-grandma. She will be truly missed by her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Blumer who passed away on January 9, 2000; her parents, siblings, Opal Seifried, Ruth Houseman, Minnie Hemann, Edna Weinacht, Fred, Raymond and LaFayette “Frenchie” Randant.

Surviving are her children, Bruce (Chandra) Blumer of Woodstock, and Pam (Howard) Carson of Indianapolis, IN; brother Bob (Mary) Randant of San Diego, CA; five grandchildren, Amy (William) Camp, Sara (Jeffrey) Warren, Beth (Kevin) DiRenzo, Kyle (Libby) Blumer and Kory (Ella) Blumer; seven great-grandchildren, Grace and Emily Camp, Kamryn and Riley Blumer, Billy, Sammy and Danny Blumer, Jake and Josh Warren. She had many nieces, nephews and special friends. Dorothy was very fortunate to have such dear friends that always cared for her.

Visitation was held on Jan. 6 at St. Jacob United Church of Christ in St. Jacob.

Funeral services were held on January 6 at St. Jacob UCC, St. Jacob, with Rev. Nancy Gamache officiating.

Interment was at Keystone Cemetery in St. Jacob.

Aebischer-Richeson Funeral Home in St. Jacob was in charge of arrangements.
