By Mark Jurgena, Reporter

On December 30th at the Granite City Ice Rink Triad defeated East Alton-Wood River 9-2.

Ethan McFarland had five points on the night including a hat trick.

Zack Davis, Jordan Lewis, Elliot McAtee, Christian Poddig, Frankie Rynes and Daniel Verhaar all scored goals.

McFarland and Rynes has two assists, while Davis, Verhaar, Connor Markovic, Dylan Sedlak and Andrew Watts had one.

Logan Kimmick had 20 saves in goal for the Knights.

“It was our freshman goalie Logan Kimmick’s first varsity game and win,” said Triad coach Pat Culiberk. “He made some very timely saves and kept his team in a game that we just didn’t play very well in front of him. We’ll chalk it up as a lesson and put it behind us. Individual efforts don’t win long term, this group is much smarter than that.

“East Alton has gotten much better as the season has moved on. Larry Thatcher is making strides with that team. But so have we, just not that game.”

The Triad Knights took on Granite City December 26th at the Granite City Ice Rink and returned with a 9-0 loss.

Triad was in 8th place in MVCHA standings with a 5-9-1 mark good for 11 points. They were two points behind Edwardsville in the standings.
