Kenneth Bolton

Kenneth R. Bolton, 70, of Troy, passed away at 2:23 a.m.  on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at his residence.

He was born January 13, 1950 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of the late Virgil and Vera (Becker) Bolton.  He married Judith Murphy March 26, 1971.  She survives.

Besides his wife, Mr. Bolton is survived by two children:  Amanda Jean Bolton of Troy and Sarah Lynn (Kevin) King of Highland; five grandchildren:  McKenna Dooley, Delana Dooley, Emma King, Olivia King and Hattie King; three sisters-in-law:  Hillarie (Jerry) Holzinger of Highland, Donna (the late Eric) Skouby of Troy, and Kelly Murphy of Granite City; two brothers-in-law:  Bob Murphy of Gastonia, NC and Donald (Butch) and (Pat) Murphy of Granite City; his step-mother-in-law, JoAnn Murphy, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to  his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law and her husband, Linda and Mike Viessman.

Mr. Bolton was a graduate of St. Louis College of Pharmacy and was an area pharmacist for 40 years. He was very active in the St. Jacob United Church of Christ and was involved in building many homes for Habitat for Humanity. He was an avid golfer and bowler. Family and friend  card games were a favorite pastime of his. Mr. Bolton enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in many sports and activities and playing fetch with his beloved dog Thunder. Kenneth was well known for his sense of humor and practical jokes.

Visitation was held on February 1 at St. Jacob United Church of Christ in St. Jacob.  A memorial service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the church, with a luncheon to follow the service.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Sarcoma Foundation.
