Karen “Candy” Wentz

Karen J. “Candy” Wentz, age 75, of Edwardsville, died Monday, June 29, 2020 at her residence.

She was the daughter of James Robert and Eula Jane (McDonald) Meyers and sister of Julia Ann Meyers, all of whom have gone ahead.

She married Edward Bohm Wentz, Sr. November 26, 1965 in Kirkwood, MO. He preceded her in death January 13, 2016.

Candy was born March 17, 1945 in Stamford, TX and always felt that was home. She leaves behind a son, Edward Bohm Wentz, Jr. and his wife Patty of Edwardsville; two step-grand children: Ciara Kitley (Daniel) and Doug Tsui (Ashley Cloniger); two step-great grandchildren: Victoria and Rayden Kitley; nephew and nieces: Christopher Wentz (Karla), Sharon Evans (Berry), Suzanne Wentz and Sheila Wentz; and two cousins: Pamela Wallace Harrel and Brenda Gannon.

Candy enjoyed a career at the Edwardsville Intelligencer for 27 years, building many friendships with co-workers and customers alike. She and her husband, Ed, were the owners of 244 Antiques, after he retired from a long career as a school administrator. They continued to cultivate many friendships during their 50 years in that arena. Enough gratitude cannot be expressed to the 244 crew, who helped make it all happen.

She enjoyed participating in many civic endeavors over the years, the latest as a board member of the Woodlawn Cemetery Association. She also enjoyed many years on the tennis courts and golf courses.

According to her wishes, there will be no services. She encourages all of you to “enjoy the game” and take care of each other.
