Linda Veronica Byrkit

Linda Veronica Byrkit, 74, of Collinsville, Illinois passed away at 1:46 a.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at her home.

She was born December 8, 1945 in Edison, New Jersey, a daughter of the late Stephen Adam and Ethel (Sehein) Mieczkowski.  She married William N. “Than” Byrkit on March 11, 1967 in Galesburg, Illinois and he survives.

She was an office manager at Byrkit Chiropractic Center in Collinsville for many years.  She was a member of Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville.  Linda was an artist and was a very talented painter and writer.  She loved writing and was the author of four children’s books.  She had a love for animals and enjoyed supporting many animal charities throughout the years.  She enjoyed her days of traveling and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.

In addition to her beloved husband of 53 years, she is survived by two loving sons and a daughter-in-law, Craig and Melanie Byrkit of Ballwin, Missouri and Douglas Byrkit of Overland, Missouri; four cherished grandchildren, Dillon, Allison, MacKenzie and Aiden Byrkit; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Julia Byrkit of Forsyth, Illinois; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nancy and John Malvin of Collinsville; several nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.

In addition to her beloved parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Lafferty.  A private memorial service will be held at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Thursday, September 3, 2020 with Reverend Richard Unger officiating.

Memorials may be made to A.S.P.C.A. American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church or to support your local animal shelter in her memory and may be accepted at the funeral home.  www.irwinchapel.com
