Triad Middle School Baseball Wins Games Against Highland

The Triad 8th grade baseball team has begun the year at 8-3 and have won five of their six games the past two weeks.

“The team plays together they gel pretty well,” said coach Corey Vickery. “They play as a unit and there’s no individual player that wants to try to be above anybody else. They play as a team.”

They split a pair with Highland winning 12-0 and dropping game two 10-7.

TMS followed that with a 5-1 victory over Edwardsville Lincoln and a pair of wins over Collinsville.

They also won their game against Highland at GCS Stadium in Sauget 4-3.

The 7th grade baseball Crusaders swept two games against Collinsville 15-0 and 18-7. Devin Maedge pitched well in the second game while Jaxon Gray had four RBI that game as well.

On Friday they won 13-4 over Highland at GCS Stadium. Tyler Jacobs homered. Tyler Thompson and Nolan Keller both pitched well.

The girls softball team also won five of their six games the past couple of weeks.

In their only loss, Edwardsville beat TMS 7-2.

The Crusaders had 10 hits on the day. They were led by Maddy Seal and Delaney Hess. Those two collected two hits in the game.

“We were getting people on base but just couldn’t score them,” said coach Kaci Greer.

TMS swept a doubleheader over Highland 14-2 and 13-3. Delaney Hess pitched game one and Reese Brown threw game two.

Triad swept a double header with Collinsville 15-0 and 16-0. Delaney Hess, Reese Brown, and Maddy Seal all split time on the mound.

The first game ended with a stellar defensive play by TMS.

In the bottom of the 7th, catcher Andie Green threw out a runner at 2nd base trying to steal. On the return throw to home by Sydney Horn, Green tagged out the Collinsville runner trying to steal home to end the game.

“It was an amazing double play,” said Greer. “The girls were very excited/proud of it. It was something we have practiced, but they executed it perfectly.”

They closed out the week with a 5-3 win over Bethalto.

Maddy Seal and Reese Brown split the game in the circle. Both pitchers worked their way out of numerous jams to get the win.
