Triad Girls Tennis On Winning Streak, Including Alton’s Robert Logan Memorial Tournament Championship

After a solid 3-2 start to their season, the Lady Knights have come into a zone. They have won all eight of their competitions since then. The combined point totals for those 8 matchups has been an incredible 52-8 in favor of Triad.

On September 9, Triad won the second game of their winning streak to rise to 5-2. The team faced off against Mississippi Valley Conference Foe Civic Memorial. The Eagles were no challenge however and the Lady Knights cruised to a 9-0 win on the day.

Six Lady Knights won twice in straight sets. They were Jocelynn Carmody, Haley Jackson, Gracie Markland, Darian Liley, Karen Speer, and Sami Hartoin.

The next day the team faced off against yet another conference opponent, the Jerseyville Panthers. Triad dominated on their way to an 8-1 win. This extended their winning streak to three straight opponents.

Leading the way for the squad with two wins were Carmody, Jackson, Speer, and Hartoin. Markland and Liley tacked on straight-set singles wins as well.

September 15 saw the Lady Knights return to action. The team played host to the Waterloo Bulldogs, another MVC opponent. Another 9-0 victory in Triad’s favor followed, bumping them up to 7-2 on the season.

Six players managed to win twice on the day. These players were Carmody, Jackson, Markland, Liley, Speer, and Hartoin.

Two days later, the Lady Knights played host to their rivals the Highland Bulldogs. Triad easily won 9-0. This marked the team’s fifth straight victory.

This past Saturday, the team played in Alton’s River Bend/Robert Logan Memorial Tournament. The first opponent for the day was the Collinsville Kahoks. Triad won the matchup 5-0.

Next up, the team battled with the Highland Bulldogs. It was a tight contest, but the Lady Knights managed to take a 3-2 win. This was the first occasion that Triad surrendered any points in nine days and also was their tenth win of the year.

To win the tournament championship, the team played the Jerseyville Panthers. Triad claimed a 4-1 victory, as well as the tournament championship. The team has now won the River Bend/ Robert Logan Memorial Tournament four times in as many years.

The junior varsity squad has performed strongly recently as well. The team has gone 6-0-1 in their last seven competitions. Triad has a score total of 40-8 in their favor over those seven matchups.
