Pete’s Market Opening In Troy Plaza January 2021

The space that formerly housed Schuette’s SuperValu Market at 523 Troy Plaza is undergoing renovations to become Pete’s Market in January 2021.

Pete Patel, owner of 4-0 Quick Shop at 804 S. Main St. in Troy, purchased the building in the fall of 2019 and had hoped to be open this fall.

Unfortunately, Patel said when he and his workers entered the building for the first time months after Schuette’s had moved out, they discovered that the owners left behind fresh meat and dairy that had gone bad. The first three months were spent cleaning.

Cases had to be scrubbed down with bleach and 100 pounds of baking soda had to be placed in all of the coolers and cases to remove the smell of the rotten food. Interior walls had to be torn out and replaced. The cases were then painted and new fans were placed in the coolers.

New LED lights inside of the store run from the front to the back and light the parking lot outside. The parking lot will also receive a new seal coat before opening. The store’s facade will be 10 feet of stone with stucco the rest of the way to the top.

Patel said unlike the previous store, the shelves will be well stocked, with a liquor department, bakery, and a second location for Kelly’s butcher shop which runs out of 4-0 Quick Shop. Prices will also be lower than Schuette’s and similar to those at the 4-0.

I love our local Petes Market in Chicagoland so excited I’ll be able to continue shopping at a Petes once we move! Freshest and largest produce selection I’ve ever seen! Love Pete’s!

This is not affiliated in any way with Pete’s Market in the Chicagoland area.

So is this going to be a full service grocery? Will there be produce? Or is this going to be a very big convenient mart (for lack of a better term). Just curious.
