Debra Kay Schmidt

Debra Kay Schmidt, age 61 of Maryville, born March 14, 1959 in Granite City, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Debra graduated from O’Fallon Township High School in 1977.  She married the love of her life, Rodney Schmidt, on October 24, 1981 and they have one son,

Mark.  Debra worked for the Madison County Assessor’s Office.  She was of the Catholic faith and a devoted member of Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville.  She loved working outside in her yard landscaping, tole painting and making crafts.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.  She will be forever dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Duckworth and Nancy (nee Bond) Duckworth-Wiggs.

She is survived by her husband, Rodney Schmidt; her son, Mark Austin Schmidt of Maryville; a granddaughter, Giada Elaine Schmidt; two brothers, Thomas (Margaret) Duckworth of Collinsville, IL and Stephen (Kathy)

Duckworth of Collinsville; two sisters, Kimberly Winkler of Maryville and Cathleen (Brian) Lowry of Swansea; numerous nieces and nephews.

Private services were held on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 with Father Rob Johnson celebrating the mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Debra’s honor may be made to the Maryville Homecoming Association or Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.  Checks should be payable to the organization of your choice and can be dropped off or mailed to the funeral home at 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
