Collinsville Township Trustee Jim Stack Dead At 72

Collinsville Township Trustee and former Madison County Democratic Party Chair Jim Stack passed away on December 24 in the hospital. Stack was 72 and passed away after after a brief illness.
Stack, a resident of Collinsville, had served on the Collinsville Township Board for a total of 7 years during different terms.
Collinsville Township Supervisor Dan Hopkins said “Jim was a public servant most of his life in one way or another. It is yet again a sad day for Collinsville Township”.
A replacement until the April 6 election will be named at the next Collinsville Township meeting on January 12.
Madison County Coroner Steve Nonn issued the following statement on Facebook. “Jim was the first and only chairman of my election campaign committee. I was a rookie in the way of politics and he taught me so very much on how to conduct myself. A class act all the way and am proud to call him my friend, mentor and more. He will be greatly missed. His wife Karen and his entire family are in Sue and I thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace my dear friend”.
Stack was previously employed as urban planning chief for the Illinois Department of Transportation District 8 in Collinsville.
Services have not been released at this time.
