The Village of Marine swore in new Police Chief Brett Stewart to replace former chief Chris Singleton at the January 6 Village Board meeting.
Stewart, has served as a part-time police officer in Marine for the last six years and a full time Hamel police officer for the past three years.
Prior to becoming a police officer, Stewart was a 25 year Air Force veteran, working with the inspector general, personnel, and security forces.
Stewart said he became a police officer after retirement because he has a heart for service in the community and feels the job would be a good fit.
Stewart said “I think we have a great department and I look forward to the challenge of the job”.
Besides regular police work, Stewart plans to focus on community policing, patrolling, high visibility, and business checks.
Stewart currently lives in Pontoon Beach, but said he and his family have plans to move closer to Marine over the next couple of years.
