Richard Schmitt

Richard D Schmitt, 70, of Staunton, born December 9, 1950, in Highland and passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville.

Richard married Laverne Jones on January 10, 1970.

He served in the US Army from March of 1970 to December of 1972. He was a supervior with Basler Electric in Highland for many year. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Highland.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Gaertner and his father Louis Schmitt and a sister Karen Row.

Surviving are his wife, Laverne Schmitt of Staunton; sons, Jeff (Jamie Schmitt of Belleville, Justin (Jennifer Clemings) of Benld, Joseph (Erin) Schmitt of Troy; grandchildren, Logan, Candence, Brenna, Braden, Charlotte, Benjamin, Gracey, Jordan, Searra, Addison and Zoe; brothers, Gerald “Butch” Schmitt of Highland, Robert Schmitt of St. Jacob; several nieces and nephews.
