Dennis “Denny” Cygan
Dennis J. “Denny” Cygan, Sr., age 74 of Marine, died Sunday, March 14, 2021, at his home in Marine.
He was born on Wednesday, October 30, 1946, in Joliet.
November 11, 1966, he married Lynn M. Cygan nee Green at St. Albert The Great Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, Illinois, who survives.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Marine; Secretary at S.A.R.A. Highland Race Track; K-10 Model Trains, Maryville; former member of the Meat Cutter Local 88, St. Louis.
Dennis was born at Joilet, grew up in E. St. Louis, and graduated from Assumption Catholic High School, E. St. Louis in 1964. He served with the US Air Force from 1966 to 1970, stationed overseas in England and stateside in Oregon. He worked as a Meat Cutter for National Grocery Stores for 20 years and attended Belleville Area College receiving a business degree. He then attended Vatterott Tech School, St. Louis and became a certified HVAC technician. He worked for Walters Metal Fabrication Company, Pontoon Beach, from 1997 to 2014. He enjoyed family, trains, camping and classic cars.
Survivors include: wife Lynn M. Cygan, nee Green, Marine; sons D.J. (Michele) Cygan, Highland, IL and Brett R. (Robyn) Cygan, Highland; daughter Jill E. (Derek) Horn, Highland; and grandchildren Jacob, Cole, Alex and Sara Cygan and Sydney and Peyton Horn; brother – Richard (Audrey) Cygan, Fairview Heights, and sisters – Mary Lou (Andy) Anderson, Swansea, and Cynthia (Mark) Voegtle, Fairview Heights.
He was preceded in death by: parents Edward F. and Shirley E. Cygan, nee Blackburn.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, and from 8:00 AM to 9:15 AM on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marine, with Rev. Fr. Paul Habing, Pastor, officiating.
