Joseph “Joe” Harrison

Joseph Paul “Joe” Harrison, 76, of Troy, Illinois passed away at 10:57 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon.

He was born April 4, 1945 in East St. Louis, Illinois, the son of the late Paul and Mildred (Vereen) Harrison.  He married Mary Lou (Begley) Harrison on February 7, 1975 in St. Louis, Missouri and she passed away on December 25, 2014.

He retired from Ameren after over 35 years of dedicated service as an electrician.  He was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local 148.  Joe loved the freedom of the road and enjoyed many years of traveling on his motorcycle.  He was proud that he traveled every paved road through all of the National Parks throughout the continental United States.  He was a devoted husband and had a true passion for his beloved wife.  He loved traveling and had a love for his dogs.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Tammy Harrison of Phoenix, Arizona and Joel and Pamela Harrison of Maryville; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Mitch Hamilton of New Boston; seven grandchildren, Taylor Altenberger, Amanda (Ben) McCart, James Harrison, Madelyn Harrison, Claire Harrison, Chloe Harrison and Ryan Harrison; other extended family and friends.

In celebration of his life, a memorial gathering will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
