Arline Fohne

Arline Ella Fohne, age 91, of O’Fallon, born March 30, 1930 on the family farm in Troy, the youngest of six children of Arnold and Ella, nee Noeltner, Niehaus, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 21, 2021 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis. During the last six years Arline lived at The Colonnade Senior Living.  While living there she met many new friends and the staff treated her like family.

Arline grew up south of Troy and graduated from McCray-Dewey High School, Class of 1948. She worked on the family farm until she met and married Vincent Arthur Fohne at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Blackjack on April 27, 1954. They lived in Blackjack and Lebanon, where they raised five children.  Arline enjoyed baking, gardening, and had a love of music and dancing. After Vince’s death, she later met and married Arthur Donald Fohne; they lived in O‘Fallon and attended St. Nicholas Church.  They spent their time traveling and attending local dances.  She looked forward to the annual family reunions where she could reunite with extended family including many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vincent Arthur Fohne, her second husband Arthur Donald Fohne, and four siblings: Melvin Niehaus, Lorine Toennies, Marcella Heim, and Bernadine Poletti.

Surviving are her children Gary (Debbie) Fohne of O’Fallon, Donna (Duane) Albers of Breese, Dianne (Steve) Morton of Cape Coral, FL, Mary (John) Cornell of Lebanon, and Sharon (Jerry) Buckley of Fairview Heights; grandchildren Adam (Renae) Poole, Christopher Albers (special friend Jordan Parker), Andrea Fohne, Megan (fiancé Jeremy Hunter) Fohne, Olivia (Matt) Jobes, Daisy Cornell, Melody Cornell (special friend Noah Reinneck), and Erica Buckley; great-grandchildren Tessa and Mitchell Poole, Ivy Hunter, Natalie and Violet Jobes; and her sister Bernice (Leonard) Dickerson of Collinsville.

Memorial donations are suggested to St. Joseph Cemetery Fund, St. John the Baptist Chapel Foundation or in the form of Masses. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.wfh-ofallon.com.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm, Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O’Fallon, and after 9:30 am, Monday, April 26, 2021 at the funeral home. Procession will depart the funeral home at 10:45 am, Monday, for a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11 am, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O’Fallon, with Msgr. William J. Hitpas presiding. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lebanon, IL.
