William Fredrick Graebe, Jr. (Collinsville), President of G&M Industries, Inc., passed away Sat., May 1, at Cedarhurst of Edwardsville with his family at his side.
Born 11/7/39 in East St. Louis (IL), he was the son of the late William F. Graebe and Pat McBride Graebe formerly of Belleville and was preceded in death by aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is survived by his wife Annette Mulvany Graebe of Collinsville, son Justin William Graebe (Amanda) and four grandchildren (Ellie, Jude, Theo, and Luca) of O’Fallon, brother Robert H. (Bob) Graebe and family of Belleville, Godmother Vickie Matyi of Elkville, Goddaughter Ariel Matyi-Spencer of PEI/Canada, cousins, friends, and colleagues.
He received his degrees from BAC (SWIC), SIUE, and SIUC.
Bill was an entrepreneur, developed several products, awarded patents, and received many awards.
He traveled extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe for business and pleasure.
He was a former Assistant Scoutmaster, Scout Troop 1093 of Collinsville, past president of the SIUE Business Alumni Association, and current member of the SIUE Alumni Association Advisory Board.
He was a talented musician (jazz piano/organ). He enjoyed his motor boat on regional lakes and Lake of the Ozarks.
Because of COVID, a private visitation and funeral service will be held at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, with Father John Beveridge officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Belleville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Boy Scout Troop 1093, the SIUE Alumni Association, and City of Collinsville (Fire Department).
