Kahok Boys Volleyball Continues Fine Play
By Mark Jurgena
In their inaugural season, the Collinsville boys JV volleyball team continued to impress by sweeping a pair of matches last week.
On May 18th they traveled to Belleville West and won in two sets 25-20, 25-21. Also last week they beat Metro East Lutheran on the road 25-14, 25-15.
“It was a pretty good week so far as wins and losses go,” said coach Mike Nicholls. “Against West, we did a really good job the second set of taking care of little, silly errors. In the second set, we started playing a much better volleyball game.
“Against Metro East Lutheran we played a pretty solid game.”
Nicholls was again complimentary of the play of Matt Falbe at libero along with Luke Geisen and Eli Davidson at setter.
“It was a pretty good week from some freshmen also,” he said. “Adam Reiniger and Carter Hollis have been playing great all season. Austin Zagorski finally got some court time and took care of business against Metro and had a good game.”
Nicholls wanted to give special mention to Amir Taylor, one of the seniors on the team. He will not be able to finish the last two weeks of the season with the team. Taylor has left for Air Force basic training.
The Kahoks only have four games left in their season. Today they host Alton and will visit Father McGivney tomorrow.
