Kahok Athletics Has New Digital Presence
By Mark Jurgena
Fans of Collinsville High School athletics will have even better access to their favorite teams this coming school year courtesy of a brand new Kahok athletics website and phone app.
Kahokathletics.com and the corresponding app have been available for a few months, but Kahok athletic director Clay Smith has been working out the bugs on the new digital presence before promoting it to the public.
“I had been looking for a while to update our website to get to the latest and greatest thing,” he said. “The new website is a slick design. It’s more of a collegiate level website in my opinion. I kind of compare it to the U of I’s website and other major universities around the area. I just like the way it looks and the flow to it and the information it offers. The app was just kind of an added bonus we stumbled upon.”
The new site and app are courtesy of a partnership between Collinsville High and Mascot Media.
Smith indicated that he and his administrative assistant Jan Harmon worked with Mascot Media on the design of the site and app.
With the app, CHS fans can receive push notifications on their phone about events including cancellations and rescheduled contests.
“To me the major draw to it is the communication aspect of it,” began Smith. “In a normal year you do have games cancelled because of weather, especially in the spring. We do have games moved around just because of something that pops up. I love the communication part of it where you can get that instant notification to your phone or watch. I think it just keeps us ahead of the game and makes us unique in our own way.”
Smith indicated local businesses have an opportunity to help sponsor the new digital presence and have their business logos and contact information on both the website and the app.
Any interested businesses should contact Smith at csmith1@cusd.kahoks.org or (618)346-6320x 1231 for further information.
In addition to the website the app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. The app is free.
