David Tarrant

David E. Tarrant, 80, of Collinsville, born Sunday, July 21, 1940 in Belleville, and passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville.

David was a 1958 graduate of Collinsville High School and attended SIUE And Champaign where he took fire science classes.  David worked for the Collinsville Fire Department where he went through the ranks, lieutenant, Captain and was Fire Chief when he retired.  He was a training officer with the Illinois State Fire Marshalls office.  Dave was part owner of Thomas Brother Towing in Collinsville for 9 years, and drove for D & K Backhoe.  He was a life member of the NRA, enjoyed hunting Elk with his buddies in McCall, Idaho and trips to the farm in Southern IL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois A. (nee Rogers) Tarrant whom he married December 30, 1978 in Edwardsville, and she passed away June 6, 2021; parents, Walter E. and Mayme (nee Gard) Tarrant; and his sister, Delores (Charles) Ray.

Surviving are his children, Dennis (Theresa) Tarrant, Amy (Sulya) (Mark) Terveer and Tracey (Sulya) (Patrick) Blache; grandchildren, Duane Tarrant, Darby Tarrant, Drake Tarrant  Ashley (Jacob) Moritz, Zakary Arban, Allyson Arban, Jordyn Albright, Jacob Terveer, Kamryn Terveer, Loren Terveer, Gage Terveer and Bailey Terveer; great-grandchild, Layne and Emma Moritz; and his sister-in-law, Janice Barber; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation for Dave will be 5 to 8 pm on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy.

Funeral services will be held 11 am on Friday July 23, 2021 at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy,  with Rev. Steve Gray officiating.  Interment in Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights.
