James “Jim” Hinckle

James “Jim” F. Hinckle, 96, of Troy, born July 22, 1925 in Palmyra, and passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at his home in Troy.

James served his Country in the United States Army during WW II.  He retired from the United States Postal Service in St. Louis, and enjoyed farming for many years.  Jim enjoyed mastering his magic act and loved entertaining his children and grandchildren.  He was inventive, working on ideas to make lifes chores easier.  Jim and Mary were members of the Troy Senior Citizens and enjoyed traveling around the country especially enjoying the lure of a mystery trip.  Most of all He loved his family, enjoying any time spent with them.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Knox Polk and Dorothy (nee Long) Hinckle; his son-in-law, Tom Epperson; a grandson, and his sister, Lorraine Stauffer.

Surviving are his wife, Mary L. (nee Land) Hinckle; his children, Carol Epperson of Troy, Becky (Bob) Garland of Brighton, Jean (Tony) Strazar of Brighton, and Joe (Carrie Heflin) Hinckle of Bunker Hill; 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great- grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held 12 noon to 1 pm on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, September, 18, 2021 at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, with Rev. Ryan Harris officiating.  Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Greenfield.
