Mueller-Jones Steps Down From County Board
By Stephanie Malench
Heather Mueller-Jones (R-Maryville) announced via email to County Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler on September 7 that she would be resigning from the Madison County Board effective September 14 in order to focus on her job and children.
After seeing through some of the projects her late husband Clint Jones had started as a county board member, Mueller-Jones said it is time to do what’s best for her family and “do what’s best” for her family, which is making sure her children grow up to be the best children and young adults they can be.
“This was a difficult decision for me. As a county board member, I tried to make decisions and votes on what I thought was best for all our families and now I need to do what is best for my family”, Mueller Jones explained on her Facebook page.
Mueller-Jones was appointed by Chairman Kurt Prenzler to fill the seat of her late husband Clint Jones in July 2020 after his sudden death. Mueller-Jones then won the election in November 2020 against Paul Rydgig.
According to the agenda for the Madison County Board meeting to be held on September 15, Paul Nicolussi (R-Collinsville) is being recommended by Prenzler to fill the position.
