Vera Scott

Vera O. Scott passed away peacefully on November 21, 2021 in Maryville. She was 101, born in Troy on October 2, 1920.

Vera was a good and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. She loved to cook, especially for her family. She enjoyed reading cookbooks, rather than newspapers, magazines or novels. Her chicken & dumplings and pound cake were unsurpassed. She loved red lipstick and clip-on earrings; she excitedly received a new pair of earrings for her 101st birthday.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Louis H. Scott; her ex-husband, Frank Cappello; her parents, William and Bertha (Baum) Jackson; her sister, Iona (Jackson) Moser and her brother, Wilbur Jackson.

Surviving are her daughter, JaDienne Lewis of Harpswell, MA, and her son, Charles “Chuck” (Lynn) Cappello of Belleville; 7 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Private, graveside services will be held at Ms. Scott’s request.

Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, is in charge of the arrangements.

I took care of Vera in her last days when she was in the nursing home. I will say that I very rarely saw any of her family visit her. That makes me sad because she was a wonderful person.
