CHS Bowlers Score Big At Weekend Tournaments

It was another busy week of bowling for both the Collinsville girls and boys teams as each team took part in two duals and a weekend tournament.
Girls Results
The girls varsity team traveled north to Joliet to take part in the Plainfield Strikefest at Town & Country Lanes in Joliet. The Kahoks placed 10th in the 44-team event in Chicagoland.
Rockton (Hononegah) won the event with a pin count of 5819 over their six games. The Kahoks finished 430 pins behind them.
Individually, Sophie Tottleben placed 15th in the field of 253 bowlers. Her high game for the day was a 234 in her opening game of the day. She also rolled a 212 in her fourth game. She finished with a 598 series in the morning and a 581 series in the afternoon.
Her total of 1179 tied her with Holly Gubernat of Plainfield (East). Kyley Olson of Hononegah won the individual crown with a 1365 total on the day.
Kahok Cassidy Stewart got 25th place in the field to earn the final of the individual medals. She fired a 553 in the morning and a 598 in the afternoon for a total of 1148. She placed only two pins behind Emily Webster of Freeport.
She threw three games over 200 for the day. Her high game was a 236 in her third game followed by a 214 in game four and a 201 in game five.
Courtney Baer finished 43rd for Collinsville. She tied with Nyjah Branch of Palos Hills (Stagg) with 1094 pins on the day. She had a high of 215 in her second game and also rolled a 212 in her opening round.
Emily Dahl rolled 1024 including firing a 215 game, while Livia Montgomery had a 206 on her last game of the day. Journey Sampson had a high game of 176 at Strikefest.
The Collinsville girls JV team competed in another varsity tournament this past weekend. This time they took part in the Southern Illinois Challenge at Bel-Air Bowl in Belleville. They finished in eighth place.
Taylor Mordis had the high game on the day with a 189. She fired a 909 total for the day.
Beth Campbell rolled a 933 on the day with a high game of 170 while Lauren Henze shot a 903 and had consecutive games of 174 and 173.
Cindy Freeman rolled an 880 and Caici Buckman fired a 790 for the day.
Dual Matches
The girls defeated Belleville East on December 8th at Camelot Bowl.
Tottleben had a pair of games above 200 on the day with a 214 and a 215 but Stewart had the high game of the day with a 217. Baer’s highest total was 202.
On December 6th, the girls picked up a win over Alton at Camelot.
There were some big scores on the day for CHS. Baer had the highest game at 265, followed by Tottleben at 264. Stewart also shot a big number with a 235.
Boys Results
Collinsville’s boys bowling team took part in the Southern Illinois Challenge on December 11th at Bel-Air Bowl in Belleville. They finished in second place at the event.
The Kahoks recorded 13 games above 200 for the day. They had a high series of 1053 in the third and final game of the morning session.
Cole Buckman led the charge with four games over 200. His high game was a 242 during his fourth game of the day. He also recorded rounds of 214, 204, and 203.
Ben Sloan and Brandon Campbell went in excess of 200 three times each.
Sloan had a high game of 216 with other rounds of 211 and 202. Campbell fired a 227, 203, and a 201.
Evan Flowers had the highest game for the Kahoks on the day with a 255 in his second game of the day. He also fired a 202.
Conner Hartman rolled a 236 for his highest round of the day.
Dual Matches
Collinsville ended up losing to Belleville East on December 8th at Camelot Bowl.
Only two Kahoks broke the 200 barrier on the afternoon. Ben Sloan fired a 235 for his high game while Brandon Campbell shot a 226 for his.
The high series for the team was 1024 in their first round of the day.
They also dropped a dual to Alton on December 6th at home.
The Kahoks registered seven games above the 200 barrier for the day. Flowers rolled the high game of the day with a 227 while Sloan, Campbell, and Buckman all went over 200 twice.
As a team, their high series was 1026 in the second set of games.
