Joyce Loyet

Joyce Carolyn Loyet, nee Hencke, age 82 of Lebanon, born August 18, 1939 in Troy, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022 at her home.

Joyce grew up in Troy and graduated from McCray-Dewey High School. For many years, she impacted the lives of many young children as a dedicated caregiver through her foster-parenting and home daycare. She enjoyed knitting, spinning, gardening, baking homemade breads and decorating wedding cakes. Joyce loved being on the farm where she was able to tend to the many goats, chickens, and other farm animals.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Christi Burmester and her parents Bernett and Dorothy, nee Simpson, Hencke.

Surviving are her husband Dale L. Loyet; her daughters Julie (Wayne) Loyet of O’Fallon, Valarie (Gary, Jr.) Smith of Bonne Terre, Mo., and Sara (Richard) Parmeley of Lebanon; her grandchildren Matt (Anna) Burmester, Travis (Nichole) Burmester, Carolyn (Corey) Doner, Aaron (Elina) Loyet, Gary Smith III, Gabe (Blake) Smith, Morgan Smith, Madison Smith, Landon Parmeley, and Lydia Parmeley; and her seven ½ great-grandchildren; her sister Judy Keilbach of Caseyville, and former husband Ben Mueller.

Visitation was held Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O’Fallon. Funeral services were held Friday, January 28, 2022 at the funeral home, with burial following at St. Joseph’s Burial Association (aka Keppler’s Cemetery), O’Fallon Township, Illinois.
