William Woodard
William F. Woodard, 87, of Troy, born Sunday, July 1, 1934 in Dudley, and passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022 in Troy.
William honorably served for 22 years in the United States Air Force in both Korea and Vietnam. He also worked as an aircraft mechanic for Ozark and TWA Airlines where he retired in 1996. He was flight instructor for many years at Scott Air Force Base. William was a natural mechanic and trouble shooter and enjoyed working on airplanes. He was a member of the Troy VFW Post 976. William always enjoyed his time spent with his family and loved them dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert V. “AV” and Lilah “Fern” (nee Henson) Woodard; his daughter, Deborah Bettorf; and a brother, Arthur Woodard.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia (nee Decker) Woodard of Troy; his daughters, Susan (Mitch) Fryman of Troy, and Kathy A. (Bryan Hottinger) Mooningham of Edwardsville; grandchildren, Kristy (James) Lynch, Cory (Terry Shepard) Reynolds, Allen (Kristy) Fryman, Sean (Jessica) Fryman, Nicole Fryman, Shauna Bettorf and Stacey Hayden; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Joey Lynch, Justin (Alysa) Corwin, Madison (Tyler Carter) Reed, Blake Reed, Kate and Anna Fryman, Addi and Grant Fryman and Kaylynn and Brody Fryman; and his great-great-grandson Charlie Corwin; his brother Alfred A. (Barbara) Woodard of Orlando, FL.
Visitation for William was Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, with Rev. Dan Perry officiating. Interment will be in Buck Road Cemetery, Maryville.
