Jeffrey Dunkle
Jeffrey Henry Dunkle, 75, of Troy, passed away to be with his loving Father on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at his residence, holding the hand of his beloved wife, Louise.
Jeff was born November 27, 1946 in Lancaster, PA to Paul C. and Ruth (Henry) Dunkle. He married Louise Aeilts on April 30, 1971 at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines, where they were both stationed.
Together, they had three children, Melynda “Mindy” (Ben) Yaeger of Centerton, AR, Sheryl (David) Marks of Centerton, AR and Stephen (Abbie) Dunkle of Highland; grandchildren, Andrew Noble, Jeffrey Yaeger, Trent Yaeger, Reagan Marks, Matilda Marks, Robert Marks, Zoe Marks, Landon Dunkle and Eli Dunkle; siblings, Patrick (Barb) Dunkle and Paula Bosch, all of Florida; and brother-in-law, Richard B. Aeilts Jr. of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Richard B. and Esther Aeilts; and sister-in-law, Linda Aeilts.
Jeff proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. For 28 years, he worked with the Medical Service Corps. After retiring from the USAF, he continued his career as a Department of Defense Contractor, Managing Medical Logistics. He finished his career with BJC Health Systems for 11 years in Capital Management.
Jeff was a faithful member and a leader in the Church of Christ for many years and in different congregations throughout his life. He loved to teach the word of God and encouraged others to read their Bible. Jeff volunteered his time to others and expected nothing in return, always thinking of others before himself.
He enjoyed his work, which brought him the ability to travel the world and to taste various types of food around the world. His favorite being pineapple Dole Whips from Hawaii.
Above all else, Jeff was a devoted husband, father, and “Pappy”. His family brought him endless joy. Although his loss brings a painful void, his family knows he rests in the arms of his Lord. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial donations may be made to Siteman Cancer Center or to Compassion International, both which hold a special place in the hearts of the Dunkle family.
A visitation will be held Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 4:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights.
A funeral service will be held Friday, March 4, 2022 at 9:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
