Triad Board Breezes Through Annual Renewals And Reports

The Triad School Board met on March 28 for an agenda full of routine business. The following annual items were approved:

•appointment of Tamara Kraabel to replace Kennan Fagan who is retiring as district treasurer;

•renewal of the treasurer’s bond for another year;

•renewal of student accident insurance  administered by 1st Agency and underwritten by Guarantee Trust Life Insurance Company;

•renewal of the catastrophic insurance through AIG for the 2022-23 school year;

•employee pay dates for the 2022-23 school year; and

•annual membership to IHSA for the 2022-23 school year.

School building reports of note included: Silver Creek Elementary School has raised over $33,500 for the districts Special Olympics program and the Sliver Creek PE Department;

•St. Jacob Elementary School Librarian Susan Zobrist and Triad High School Guidance Secretary Vickie Gibson both won the 2022 IEA Education Support Personnel of the Year awards;

•applications are available for any student interested in attending the Student Success Center for the 2022-23 school year through the THS Guidance Department;

•95% of the roof on the gym at Marine Elementary School has been repaired and passed its first test the week back from break with heavy rains.

During the Superintendent’s report, Leigh Lewis announced that approximately half of the district’s parents responded to the survey regarding e-learning and most parents, teachers, and students prefered e-learning over using snow or emergency days when applicable.

New wireless access points are being installed at Marine and Sliver Creek Elementary Schools.

The next board meeting will be April  25 at 6:30 p.m. at the District office.
