Collinsville Mother And Son Among Four Suspected In Metro-East Homicide

A Madison County mother and son are among four suspects charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred outside of an O’Fallon, Illinois restaurant on May 22.

Nathan Smith, 17, of Collinsville and two other co-defendants who are both 18 years of age and from Cahokia Heights were charged with first degree murder on the evening of May 31, per court documents

Smith’s mother, Nina Smith, 38, of Collinsville was charged with obstruction of justice/destroying evidence and aiding a fugitive.

A juvenile was also arrested and is being held at the St. Clair County Juvenile Detention Center on unrelated charges.

Ivan Marshall, 20, was found shot outside the Bella Milano restaurant on May 22. He was transported to a hospital where he later died.

Marshall worked at the restaurant and police believe that he was the target.

Nathan Smith is being held at the St. Clair County Juvenile Detention Center on a $2 million bond. Smith is being charged as an adult.

The other three suspects are being held at the St. Clair County Jail; the two co-defendants on the first degree murder charge are being held on a bond of $1.5 million.
