Wayne W. Frutiger, 82, of Collinsville, IL passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Evelyn’s House hospice in St. Louis, MO. Wayne was born on Sunday, April 7, 1940 in Highland, IL. Wayne was a graduate of the class of 1957 St. Jacob High School, St. Jacob, IL. He served in the US Army for 29 years rising to the rank of Sergeant Major. Wayne served throughout the US as well as in Germany, Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, and Cambodia where he met his wife Sangvar. He then served at posts in New Jersey, Illinois, Indiana as well as three more postings in Germany before retiring from military service and moving his family to Collinsville, IL in 1990. Wayne then worked at Central Bank and later for the American Red Cross before finally retiring in 2007. Wayne loved to travel and explore the world with his family. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan and expert morel mushroom hunter. He was a long time member of the VFW Post 5961, Collinsville, IL and American Legion Post 365, Collinsville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elam Frutiger and Lila Huber, nee Frey, and his brother Lloyd L. Frutiger. Wayne is survived by his wife, Sangvar Frutiger; his children Matthew (Amy) Frutiger and Lance Frutiger of St. Louis, MO; his grandchildren Mikayl and Emma Frutiger of Murfreesboro, TN; his sister Carol & Jerry Schmitt of Highland, IL; aunts Grace Korte and Ramona Perfetti; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation for Wayne will be 10 to 11 am on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at St. Jacob United Church of Christ, St. Jacob, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am, at St. Jacob United Church of Christ, St. Jacob, IL with the Rev. Phillip Barbier officiating. Interment with full military Honors will be in Keystone Cemetery, St. Jacob, IL.
