Carjacking pursuit ends in Troy, one airlifted with serious injury

A police pursuit of a carjacking suspect ended Wednesday evening in Troy with one person airlifted to a local hospital, according to Illinois State Police. 

A carjacking happened on Interstate-55 northbound and troopers were successful in disabling the vehicle about 5:42 p.m. near the 7000 block of Plummer Business Drive, according to an ISP news release. 

After the vehicle was disabled, officers at the scene reported seeing the driver with a handgun. A loud noise was heard, however, ISP did not release further details, citing the open investigation. 

The driver was airlifted to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the release.
