Collinsville golfers named to all-conference squads

By Mark Jurgena

Five members of the Collinsville High School golf program have been honored by the Southwestern Conference for their play this past fall.

On the girls side, Kiley Belobraydic was named to the 2nd team while Kyra VanDyke, and Emma Hylton were named Honorable Mention.

Belobraydic finished in 9th place at the two-day SWC Tournament while VanDyke placed 16th and Hylton 18th.

“It’s a great accomplishment to have Emma, Kiley, and Kyra represent the Kahoks on the All-Conference teams,” said CHS girls golf coach Steve Schneider. “I am sure all three girls are excited to be on all-conference teams in such a competitive conference.”

For the boys team, Eli Verning and Drew Bailey were all-conference selections.

Verning was named to the 2nd team for placing 11th at the tourney.

“I’m kind of wishing it would’ve been like in years past where we would vote,” began CHS boys coach Colin Moore. “Based on every other tournament, the coaches might have bumped him up to 1st team, but it is what it is so it’s still a good season for a sophomore.”

Bailey was an Honorable Mention selection for his 17th place finish.

“Drew Bailey sneaking on the 3rd team as a freshman is pretty neat,” said Moore. “I’m definitely excited about the future. They’ve got a good foundation that’s set up with the seniors they had this year.
