Louise Blew
Louise Blew, age 97, formerly of Collinsville and Winter Haven, FL, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022 at Liberty Village in Maryville, IL.
Louise was born on June 13, 1925 in Livonia, MO to the late Thomas Leno and Frances Etta (nee Sears) Franklin. She married Robert Dexter Blew on December 20, 1947 and they were married for 53 years. He preceded her in death. Louise was a retired secretary from Citizens for Modern Transit. She was a member of Collinsville United Methodist Church. She was involved in the church choir, Priscilla’s Circle and the Healing Stitches Ministry. She taught Sunday School and faithfully sent cards to the shut-ins of the church. In her earlier years, she was a Cub Scout leader in Matteson, IL while her sons were growing up. Louise and her husband Bob, loved to camp and canoe with their family and the close friends they made in Barbershoppers.
Louise loved to sing and was a member of choral groups wherever she lived. She was a lifetime member of Sweet Adeline’s International. She sang in choruses in IL, MO and FL. In Illinois she held many offices in her chapter and region. In Florida, in addition to being a member of choruses, she was in a quartet that entertained at community events and retirement facilities.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bill Blew; and two brothers, Ed Franklin and Don Franklin.
Surviving are her four children: Bob (Julie) Blew of Rock Island, IL, Susan (Ross) Abbott of Troy, IL, Bruce (Dale) Blew of Murphysboro
, IL, Barb (Larry) O’Mohundro of Ankeny, IA; nine grandchildren: Bryan (Michele) Blew, Greg (Renee) Blew, Trisha (Andy) Shrewsberry, Jen (Joe) Sciarra, April (Ryan) Marshall, Nicholas (Molly) Blew, Nathaniel Blew, Maggie O’Mohundro, Libby (Kyle) Long; 15 great-grandchildren: Eleanor, James, Mollie, Jacob, Sydney, Ashley, Claire, Brooke, Levi, Riley, Lucy, Sophie, Skyler, Magdaleine and Judah; a sister, Joyce Kozbiel of Winter Haven, FL; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation will be from 10am to 11am on Thursday November 10, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church, 207 West Church Street, Collinsville, IL.
Memorial service will be at 11am at the church with Rev. Mike Barclay officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with her late husband Robert Dexter Blew.
