Triad senior Alexa Holley signed her National Letter of Intent to play soccer for Maryville University last week.

The recent signee discussed what being allowed to play collegiate soccer means to her, “It means so much. Soccer has been my number one in life and it is cool to see it all coming together.”

Maryville University is located in Town and Country, Missouri. The Saints compete at the Division II level and in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with the likes of McKendree, UMSL and UI Springfield.

Their women’s soccer program is fresh off of their first GLVC championship in school history and their first win in the NCAA tournament. The historic squad finished their season 12-3-6.

Among the reasons Holley chose to become a Saint was to pursue a major in physical therapy, but the team culture also stood out. Triad Class of 2022 soccer stars Gina Catanzaro and Brynn Presley playing for Maryville was another boost for joining Maryville, in the eyes of the recent signee.

Holley gave thanks to, “My coaches, parents, family and friends for sticking with me throughout the highs and lows.”
