Collinsville police are searching for a suspect involved in a sexual assault that took place early Friday morning.

A woman reported to police she had been abducted at knife point at about 7:05 a.m. Friday in the Collinsville Crossing retail area. She told police a man approached her vehicle while she was waiting in the parking lot for an online order at Starbucks, according to a police news release.

The victim said the man displayed a large knife and forced her to drive to the Troy area where he sexually assaulted her, according to the release. The suspect then drove the victim back to the Collinsville Crossing retail complex, where he parked her car in the parking lot of Wendy’s.

At about 7:51 a.m., the suspect fled the scene on foot towards the Golden Coral and Walgreens area and the victim called police. She was transported by ambulance to an area hospital where she was treated for injuries.

Police are searching for a white-male in his mid 30s, wearing a black hoodie, gray sweatpants, and black high-top sneakers. At this point it is believed to be a random act of violence by an unknown assailant, according to the release.

Anyone who may have been in the general area of Collinsville Crossing during this time frame and believes they have information are encouraged to call the Collinsville Police Department at (618) 344-21131.
