Collinsville swimmers compete at sectional meet

Several girls from the Collinsville swimming team had some strong performances at the recent IHSA Chatham (Glenwood) Sectional meet.

Kylee Strong-Chasteen took a pair of 3rd place finishes in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events. 

In the 50, she swam a time of 25.29 seconds. Grace Oertle of Edwardsville won the event with a time of 23.99.

In the 100, Strong-Chasteen swam a time of 56.29 seconds. Ellie Sitton of Triad won the event with a time of 54.37. Sophie Van Middendorp of CHS swam a time of 1:07.02.

In the 100 backstroke, Van Middendorp finished 15th out of 32 competitors by swimming a time of 1:14.89.

Livia Montgomery came in with a time of 1:39.14 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

In the relay events, Collinsville took a pair of 12th place finishes.

The 200 medley relay saw the team of Strong-Chasteen, Van Middendorp, Montgomery, and Journey Sampson put up a time of 2:26.92.

In the 200 freestyle relay, the same squad came in at 2:12.48.

Edwardsville won the team title with 233 points while O’Fallon came in second place with 190.
